Washington, DC – July 21, 2016 — The (ELI) and the National Whistleblower Center (NWC) have announced an upcoming seminar series on Global Wildlife Whistleblowers, scheduled for early 2017. The first seminar in the series will explore enabling whistleblowers around the world to improve the enforcement of over 44 wildlife laws. The second seminar will address technical skills for lawyers seeking to represent wildlife whistleblowers. The seminars are currently scheduled for February 2nd, 2017 and February 16th, 2017.

The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) is a non-profit, non-advocacy environmental group, which specializes in producing publications and research that target legal practitioners, business leaders, land managers, land use planners, environmentalists, journalists, and lawmakers. ELI also convenes conferences to promote the exchange of ideas; holds seminars to educate legal practitioners and business leaders; and publishes original research. ELI’s Mission is to foster innovative, just, and practical law and policy solutions to enable leaders across borders and sectors to make environmental, economic, and social progress.

The National Whistleblower Center (NWC) is the leading whistleblower legal advocacy organization, with an almost 30-year history of protecting the right of individuals to report wrongdoing. The NWC was recently selected as a Prize Winner in USAID’s Wildlife Crime Tech Challenge – an initiative of USAID in partnership with the National Geographic Society, the Smithsonian Institution, and TRAFFIC . NWC’s prize-winning solution is a secure online platform, a one-stop shop via which whistleblowers can safely and anonymously file reports of both wildlife crimes and associated crimes such as corruption and false claims, and gain useful information about how wildlife whistleblower laws work.
