Rep. Adam Schiff confirmed on ABC’s This Week that the Ukraine call whistleblower will testify before a Congressional committee. Lawmakers plan to ensure the anonymity of the witness, said the California Democrat, who is chair of the House Intelligence Committee.

Adam Schiff

Now, we are taking all the precautions we can to make sure that …we allow that testimony to go forward in a way to protect the whistleblower’s identity. Because as you can imagine with the president issuing threats like we ought to treat these people who expose my wrongdoing as we used to treat traitors and spies and we used to execute traitors and spies, you can imagine the security concerns here.

Schiff also defended the whistleblower’s integrity and challenged those who say the complaint is based on hearsay.

This whistleblower showed a lot of guts to come forward. And the fact that what the whistleblower related came from third parties doesn’t make it less credible when that information is borne out…So this whistleblower has already been substantially corroborated, which suggests that other information that he or she provide in that complaint likewise may be subject to corroboration. So do not dismiss both the professionalism of this whistleblower …(T)his is what we would expect of someone who comes out of the intelligence community.

Stephen Miller

White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller took some hard questions from Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday

“The president of the United States is the whistleblower and this individual is a saboteur trying to undermine a democratically elected government,” Miller said, during a contentious interview on “Fox News Sunday.”

Miller also bucked when host Chris Wallace countered that the IG had found the report “credible and a matter of urgent concern.”

“They’re wrong,” Miller said.

Will Hurd

Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas), a former CIA officer, argued on Face the Nation in favor of protecting the whistleblower.

Having laws in place to ensure that folks throughout the government are able to get to the right committees information they think may be wrongdoing is important. There are troubling issues within the whistleblower report but they are allegations and I think that’s why we should explore these allegations through hearings,” he added.
