On July 16, 2015, the National Whistleblower Center’s Executive Director Stephen Kohn was a presenter at a round table discussion on the important role whistleblowers play in good governance, as well as whistleblower protections. The event was hosted by the international education organization World Learning as part of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. Mr. Kohn delivered a short presentation to a highly receptive audience of delegate attendees representing 19 countries from around the world.
Mr. Kohn emphasized the urgency for foreign countries to establish and enforce whistleblower protection laws, stressing the need for whistleblowers to file claims anonymously and confidentially to protect them from retaliation. Mr. Kohn also explained how foreign nationals are now able to file whistleblower claims anonymously in the United States under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
