Raoul Weil, the former head of UBS’s Global Wealth Management business appeared before the U.S. District Court in Fort Lauderdale Tuesday, January 7, 2014, and entered a plea of not guilty.
According to the Associated Press, prosecutors contend that Weil conspired to hide $20 billion in assets from the Internal Revenue Service using secret overseas accounts for thousands of wealthy customers.

Mr. Weil was indicted based on information provided to the IRS and DOJ by UBS whistleblower Bradley Birkenfeld. A copy of the Weil indictment is attached.
