The Attorney Directory

WNN does not operate a lawyer referral service and does not provide legal advice. However, since 1997, the National Whistleblower Legal Defense & Education Fund has sponsored a whistleblower legal assistance program for whistleblowers, attempting to locate private sector attorneys to provide representation to whistleblowers. This program is free of charge for all whistleblowers and has connected hundreds of whistleblowers with attorneys. If you have not already, please fill out the Fund’s secure and confidential intake form.

If you have already gone through the Fund’s intake process, use the resources provided below to search for an attorney. WNN is not responsible for any advice that you receive from anyone, attorney or non-attorney, including the persons listed in the various directories below. We strongly urge every whistleblower to obtain information concerning your rights (such as getting a copy of Rules for Whistleblowers) and subscribing to WNN to keep up to date on developments relevant to whistleblowers. We also urge you to join the National Whistleblower Center’s Action Alert program to help advocate for better laws protecting whistleblowers.

These resources are provided to you pro bono by the National Whistleblower Legal Defense and Education Fund (NWLDEF), an independent non-profit law firm.

The NWLDEF works closely with the National Whistleblower Center (NWC) to help it further their mutual goal of protecting and empowering whistleblowers to fight corruption and other wrongdoing. However, the NWLDEF and the are separate organizations. Please understand that neither the NWLDEF nor the NWC is responsible for the actions taken by any lawyer or firm that you may contact using these resources.

The decision to contact any of these resources or hire an attorney from them is yours alone. If you hire an attorney from one of these resources to represent you, the NWLDEF will not be involved with your case, unless your attorney asks for additional involvement, and the NWLDEF consents to such involvement, in writing.

Furthermore, it is up to you to independently evaluate the quality of any attorney or law firm you hire. A link to an organization or resource published on this page does not constitute an endorsement of any attorney or law firm.

Take Action to Support Whistleblowers!

Unfortunately, many whistleblower laws are weak and there are loopholes in coverage. Highly qualified and deserving whistleblowers often have a difficult time obtaining legal counsel. This is caused in large part by problems in the law. We urge you to join NWC’s ACTION ALERT network. These networks enable whistleblowers and their supporters to shape government policy and expand legal protections for whistleblowers.

Given the constant assault on whistleblower laws waged by organizations such as the U. S. Chamber of Commerce, it is imperative that whistleblowers and their supporters make their voices heard.

Join the National Whistleblower Center’s Action Alert Network. We also urge you to subscribe to Whistleblower Network News to stay up to date on the latest developments impacting whistleblowers. Both of these networks are offered free of charge.

Rules for Whistleblowers:

Rules for Whistleblowers

We cannot overstate the importance of learning your rights and the best practices for reporting wrongdoing. We suggest that you – in the strongest terms possible – obtain a copy of Rules for Whistleblowers: A Handbook for Doing What’s Right (Lyons Press, 2023). Kohn’s thirty-seven rules highlight the “traps” facing whistleblowers today and address how to file anonymous cases and qualify for multi-million-dollar rewards.

If you cannot afford to purchase Handbook, you can request a free copy fund@report-fraud-now.info. If you find the Handbook Helpful, please make a donation to the National Whistleblower Center.

We also urge you to subscribe to Whistleblower Network News, a free online newspaper published by the NWLDEF. By accessing the newspaper, you can also access Frequently Asked Questions and other resources explaining your rights as a whistleblower.
