The CFTC Whistleblower Award Program offers monetary awards and anti-retaliation protections to whistleblowers who report commodities violations to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Types of frauds which the CFTC seeks information on include fraud, false reporting, disruptive trading practices, misappropriation, price manipulation, false reporting, accounting violations, registration violations, failure to maintain or produce required records, and many others.
Qualified CFTC whistleblowers, individuals who voluntarily provide the CFTC with original information that leads to a successful enforcement action, are entitled to awards of 10-30% of the funds collected by the government. Since issuing its first award in 2014, the CFTC has awarded over $300 million to whistleblowers.
