In response to the overwhelming interest in global whistleblower award laws at the IACC Conference in Vilnius, the National Whistleblower Center is hosting a second training (virtual) to continue educating NGOs, News Media, Human Rights Agencies, and Whistleblowers of how to use these powerful effective laws.
Not all whistleblower programs offer anonymity, but most do. Regardless, almost all of the laws will protect a whistleblowers identity with confidentiality. Learn about the difference between anonymous and confidential whistleblowing, as we evaluate the pros and cons of both.
There are certain requirements a whistleblower must meet in order to qualify for an award. And each program has their on specific rules on who qualifies. During this part of the webinar, we’ll discuss these requirements, and how global whistleblowers can utilize these law if they do qualify.
Fraud and corruption often takes place across country lines. There many powerful U.S. whistleblower laws that cover transnational crime such as money laundering, foreign bribery, securities or commodities fraud, and crimes against wildlife or the environment. This part of the webinar aims to provide clarity on these laws.
Awards to whistleblowers are a percentage of the total amounts recovered in a succesful enforcement action. Each program has their own award percentage ranges (e.g., between 15 and 30 percent). The award percentage amount is determined by many factors, which we’ll discuss in this part of the webinar.
Nearly all U.S. whistleblower laws have provisions that offer whistleblowers protection against retaliation. This is important in countries where corruption runs rampant, and safety is a concern. Learn how various agencies enforce anti-retaliation to hold fraudsters accountable for their actions.
