“Fraudsters take advantage of a crisis,” says whistleblower attorney Stephen M. Kohn in an article published today by the National Law Review.  The article outlines the protections available for those who report fraud related to the Coronavirus Pandemic response.

Kohn, a partner in the whistleblower law firm of Kohn, Kohn and Colapinto, has successfully represented whistleblowers since 1984. Kohn stresses that healthcare workers, and others involved in protecting the public from the Coronavirus, need to understand their right to expose frauds.

The U.S. Government is spending billions to fight the Coronavirus. “It should come as no surprise that fraudsters could undermine parts of the federal response to the Coronavirus crisis either by placing lives at risk or stealing from the taxpayers,” explained Kohn, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Whistleblower Center.

In the extensive article, Kohn delivers a comprehensive explanation of the following:

  • Fraud in government contracts
  • Fraud in Medicaid and Medicare programs
  • Federal and state laws that protect healthcare workers
  • Protections for Federal Employees
  • Protections under the First Amendment

Kohn’s firm recently publish Frequently Asked Questions page for Coronavirus Whistleblowers.
