Oregon Whistleblower Awarded Nearly $1Million

The Statesman Journal reports that on Friday a Marion County Oregon jury awarded nearly $1 million to a state employee fired for whistleblowing.

The whistleblower, Martin Plotner, was the director of the state Office of Emergency Management. Plotner was fired in 2013 for reporting mismanagement, potential law-breaking within the Oregon Military Department and a sexual harassment claim made against a high-ranking official, the jury found. The jury awarded him $966,668.
