Con Ed Employee Tests Positive for Coronavirus, Whistleblowers Say

Three whistleblowers who work for Con Edison (Con Ed), the biggest utility company in New York City, revealed that they are still being sent into people’s homes to read meters in the midst of the coronavirus crisis. According to ABC7 NY, one employee of Con Ed has tested positive for COVID-19, or coronavirus.

The whistleblowers, who chose to remain anonymous, say they feel their work is “non-essential” and that sending them out into people’s homes is only putting them in harm’s way.

“It feels like they don’t care about us,” one worker said. “It feels like we’re on the bottom of the totem pole.”
